Uswitch comments on two year PPI deadline

Commenting on the launch of the FCA’s consumer campaign to marking the two year countdown to the deadline for making a new PPI claim Tom Lyon, money expert at Uswitch.com, says: “Despite a deadline being set by the FCA, the scale of this mis-selling scandal continues to astonish. In recent weeks, the UK’s two largest banks have increased the amount of cash set aside to compensate customers mis-sold PPI by an extra £1.4 billion, taking the total for all UK banks to over £44 billion. This is the equivalent to the UK’s annual defence budget.

“While the deadline to make a new PPI complaint may seem like a long way in the future, it is important to act now. If you think you’ve been mis-sold a policy speak to your lender. If you’re unhappy with its response, you can take your complaint directly to the independent Financial Ombudsman Service. They will investigate your complaint for free and if they find in your favour, you’ll get to keep every penny of any compensation awarded.”
