Viewing flexibility on offer for football fans as Premier League fixtures announced

Commenting on how football fans can watch matches now that the Premier League fixtures have been announced, Dani Warner, TV expert at Uswitch.com, says: “With next season’s Premier League fixtures announced this morning, football fans would be forgiven for feeling rather mystified about the best way to watch the matches.

“Although 2019’s fixtures will be spread across three services – Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video – the 2018-2019 season will still be shown on just BT Sport and Sky Sports.

“The good news is that BT and Sky do give viewers a nice degree of flexibility – meaning that if you’re a casual fan, you don’t have to sign up to a restrictive 18 month contract to watch some football, or bank on your team’s matches being on one particular service.

“Sky Sports is hosting the lion’s share of the games so tuning into Sky is pretty crucial if you’re looking to follow the league.

“More dedicated fans might find it advantageous to sign up long term but if you want to drop in and out of certain games, NOW TV offers daily, weekly and monthly Sky Sports passes starting from £7.99 for day access.

“Then again, current Sky subscribers could add Sky Sports to their current TV package from £18 extra per month if they’re only after Premier League matches or £20 per month if they want access to every Sky Sports channel.

“There are two main ways of accessing BT Sport – by getting a BT Sport add-on for your existing TV package – from £27.99 a month, plus an activation fee – or by adding the BT Sport app. It’s worth noting that the app is only available to certain broadband or mobile customers.

“While it’s easy to be over-faced by the sheer quantity of viewing options out there, there’s also a lot of flexibility available to suit all manner of football fans – from casual viewers to diehard supporters.”
