##iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus key features

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 are almost identical.

Both phones feature the same premium build, as well as the same improved camera, more powerful processor and are powered by Apple’s iOS operating system.

The sole major differences are that the iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus is home to a 5.5-inch display.

Whilst the former has resolution of 1334x750, the latter’s resolution is 1920x1080.

At 6.9mm, the iPhone 6 is also slightly slimmer than the iPhone 6 Plus, which comes in at 7.1mm.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus camera

The eight-megapixel iSight camera has been improved to include a new Focus Pixels sensor, as well as better face detection and fast autofocus.

Video recording has been enhanced with 1080p HD video at 60fps and the option to record 240 fps slow-motion footage at 720p.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus processor

Both handsets are home to Apple’s A8 processor and M8 motion co-processor.

The more powerful A8 processor features 64-bit architecture and manages the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’s resources, so there’s no slowdown between menus.

The M8 co-processor measures movement and is at the heart of Apple’s Health app for monitoring wellbeing, as well as the phones' support for the Apple Watch.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screens

We touched on the resolution and dimensions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’ displays above.

As well as being larger than earlier iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple claims they offer more true-to-life colours and higher contrast.

They're also purported to perform better at wider viewing angles.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S design

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S are the largest iPhones so far.

With 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens respectively, they're the first Apple smartphones to be dubbed 'phablets'.

This is the term used to describe larger handsets that blur the line between a smartphone and tablet. `

Both phones are made from aluminium and glass and feature a more curved design that recalls the likes of the iPhone 3GS.

To try to ensure that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are still easy to use with one hand, Apple has equipped them with a 'Reachability' mode.

This brings the apps and features at the upper end of the screen further down the display, so they're easier to access.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus connectivity

Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus offer faster downloads than before over 4G LTE networks, such as EE. They also feature 3x faster connection speeds over WiFi.

New, improved fingerprint security

As well as using your fingerprint to unlock the phone, with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus you can now use it to buy items from the App Store, iTunes and iBooks.

That means you won't have to use your password to authenticate purchases.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 operating system

The iOS 8 software that powers the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is billed as the 'biggest ever iOS release'.

New additions are the wellbeing app Health, an overhauled Messages app and the QuickType keyboard that aims to make text entry quicker.
