Google has updated its mapping application for the BlackBerry smartphone range, with version 4.2 bringing a number of improvements and tweaks to the popular app.
One key addition is directions for people who are cycling rather than driving or walking to their destination. It is also now possible to let friends know where you are via location sharing and Google has also altered the way in which search results are displayed to make them easier to use.
In order to download the Google Maps for BlackBerry app to a smartphone, users simply need to fire up their web browser and head to m.google.com/maps to find the link and install the updated software.
Initial reports suggest that although it is possible to text locations to contacts using the updated app, this function is apparently not working quite as it should.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that the best way to share your location if you choose to do so, is via email, which for BlackBerry users should be second nature.
