Research In Motion (RIM)’s most recent addition to its Bold range of smarties, the 9900, will be landing on Vodafone and 3, it has been confirmed.
The hot-new bit of kit, which was unveiled yesterday at the BlackBerry World 2011 conference in Florida, will be available on Vodafone on its first day of release in Blighty. 3, meanwhile has confirmed it will also be stocking the handset, but it has not divulged whether it would be on sale the same time as Voda.
A quick glance through the spec sheet reveals that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 improves upon its predecessor, the 9780, in almost every aspect - perhaps most obviously in its slimmer form factor at 10.5mm depth, making it the thinnest BlackBerry yet.
Standout features include a 2.8-inch touchscreen, a blazing fast 1.2 GHz processor with 768MB of RAM, a five-megapixel snapper that records clips in 720p HD and 8GB onboard storage capacity (expandable by a further 32GB via the microSD slot). And last but certainly not least, the newest iteration of the BlackBerry OS, version 7, is on board which offers what RIM claims is an ‘easier and faster’ BlackBerry experience, with an improved web browser, voice activated searches and the ability to manage personal and business information separately.
No firm release date has been announced yet, but RIM has informed us that the handset will be on sale this summer.
