The Sony Ericsson (SE) Xperia Ray will go on sale in the UK on O2, the network has confirmed.
O2 has updated the ‘coming soon’ page of its website to announce that the Xperia Ray will be offered on its range of contract and pay as you go deals starting September. It is so far the second carrier to do so after Three confirmed it will be a launch partner for the handset.
Online retailer Play.com, meanwhile, expects to have the SIM free version in stock a bit sooner on August 15th for a fairly reasonable outlay of £349.99.
Standout features of the Ray include a 3.3-inch ‘Reality Display’ with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA technology, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to keep things ticking over smoothly and an eight-megapixel snapper with Exmor R sensor, LED flash, image stabilization, 16x digital zoom – the lot.
A host of connectivity options are also on board, such as Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB. But what pleases us the most is that it will ship with the latest Gingerbread iteration of Android. This will, of course, be adorned with SE’s bespoke TimeScape UI for easier access to your social networks and whatnot.
Stay tuned for more Xperia Ray updates in the coming weeks.
