The UK release of the Sony Xperia S has been postponed by at least two weeks, disappointing Fandroids who’d been looking forward to getting their hands on the hotly awaited smartphone this month.
Customers who’ve pre-ordered the phone SIM-free and off-contract from UK retailer Play.com had been told to expect the handset to be sent out today (January 30th).
However, as spotted by keen-eyed pre-order customer Tony Morgan, over the weekend the due date listed for the handset on Play.com’s ‘Coming Soon’ page changed to February 13th.
An e-communique from the company stated: “We do endeavour to dispatch pre-orders so that they are received on the date of release, however we cannot avoid occasional delays being passed on from our suppliers.
“It is also very possible that we will receive stock early, in which case orders may be received by you ahead of the scheduled release date.”
Rival retailer Clove is currently offering the phone with an availability date of March 5th – unchanged from its initial listing.
