Sony’s Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone is available to buy today, a full two months after it garnered rave notices from tech-watchers at Mobile World Congress expo.
Vodafone is offering the handset free from £47 per month on a two-year 4G contract, with the sweeteners of three months free line rental and a choice of free access to Sky Sports Mobile TV or Spotify Premium.
Allowances on this plan are 5GB of data per month, plus unlimited minutes and texts.
Opt for a 3G tariff and you’re looking at a minimum outlay of £42 per month (also over 24 months) if you want a free handset. That entitles you to 2GB of data use per month, along with unlimited minutes and texts. And you'll get three months free too.
Delayed by manufacturing glitches, the Xperia Z2 once again sees Sony blend features from its SLR cameras and TVs with smartphone functionality.
Standout spec sheet fixtures and fittings include a 20.7-megapixel camera with lush 4K video recording that's normally reserved for Sony camcorders and noise-cancelling technology.
It’s also home to Qualcomm’s new, brawny Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 16GB of onboard storage.
Powered by Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), the Xperia Z2 is dust and water-resistant to 1.5 metres too, in a sop to clumsier smartphone users.
