Huawei’s trio of P20 phones are now available to buy, after their grand unveiling last month.
The standard P20, which pairs a 5.84–inch screen with a dual lens camera with 20-megapixel and 12 megapixel sensors, will set you back £599 SIM free and off-contact.
Opt for the top-of-the-range Pro 6.1-inch edition and you’re looking at £799.
But that extra outlay gets you a frankly staggeringly great triple lens camera, with a camera system that teams 40-megapixel and 20-megapixel lenses with an eight-megapixel telephoto lens courtesy of de-luxe camera-maker Leica.
The combined effect on ‘bokeh’ images is incredible. And the 5x optical zoom is the best we’ve used on any smartphone.
If you’re on a budget, the Lite edition comes in at £329. Spec-sheet highlights here are a dual-lens camera with six and two megapixel lenses and the same screen as the regular model.

All three phones are available on a range of contracts from all the usual suspects, including Vodafone, O2, EE and Three.
Glancing at the best contract deals so far, we like the look of one from Mobile.co.uk that gets you the P20 Pro on EE for £38 per month with £65 to pay upfront. Allowances on this plan are 10GB of data per month, plus unlimited texts and calls.
Fancy the standard P20 instead? We’d probably plump for the deal from affordablemobiles.co.uk, also on EE.
Priced £30 per month and £36.99 per month, this includes 8GB of data per month and unlimited calls and texts.
If the Lite’s on your shopping list, it’s probably smartest – and cheapest - to buy it SIM free and then choose a SIM-only deal to suit you.
