What has the Google Pixel got to offer?
The Google Pixel’s key features are:
- 5.5-inch Quad HD screen
- 32GB and 128GB storage options
- Android Nougat software
- 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel cameras
- Fingerprint scanner
- All-day battery and fast-charge mode
The Google Pixel is billed as the first phone to be fully designed by Google inside and out.
It features a voice activated Google digital assistant, unlimited free cloud storage for photos and videos, an all-day battery (which can be charged in fast-charge mode), and a superb camera.
DxOMark, an independent camera ratings agency, gave the camera on the Google Pixel a score of 89. That's the highest rating it has ever awarded to a smartphone camera.
The eight megapixel front camera on the Google Pixel is ideal for selfies and making video calls, whilst the twelve megapixel rear camera contains lots of extra features to help you get better picture.
Some of the key ones include touch focus and face detection, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, laser autofocus, and phase detection.
Optical image stabilisation is also included, as well as 4K video recording.
All-day battery with fast charge mode
A large 2,770 mAh battery powers the Google Pixel, which should last most users all day. The fast charge mode takes just 15 minutes to provide up to seven hours of use.
Choice of storage and colours
Available in either black or grey, the Pixel also comes in 32GB or 128GB storage options.
Unlimited storage for photos and videos
In addition to onboard storage, all Google Pixel phones also come with unlimited cloud storage.
You can use this for storing photos and videos, which will free up the storage on your actual phone for games and apps.
Google’s digital personal assistant, Google Assistant, is built into the phone.
Using voice activation, you can manage day to day tasks, conduct searches, set reminders, check out travel updates, and even translate text into over 100 languages!
Large Quad HD screen
The Pixel’s Quad HD AMOLED 5.5-inch screen is capable of showing up to 16.77 million colours. Made of robust Corning Gorilla Glass, the screen is strong enough to withstand drops from height.
The Google Pixel was constructed from aluminium, much the same as the HTC premium line of phones.
A fingerprint sensor is embedded in the rear of phone, making it more secure than phones that just have a password.
Google Duo app built-in
The Google Duo app can be activated with just one tap, enabling you to make video calls to any compatible handset.
Android Nougat and quad-core processor
Android Nougat software powers the Pixel. Features include a low-power doze mode, a night mode that limits exposure to bright light during the evenings, a split screen mode which enables you to use multiple apps at once, and an improved system for notifications.
The quad-core Qualcomm processor gives phone a real sense of 'zip', even when you've got multiple apps and services open simultaneously.
