BT Fon wins wireless award

A partnership between BT and Fon has been commended at the Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards 2008.
The firms scooped the Most Innovative Wireless Broadband Company award at the recent ceremony for its role in the development of a global wireless community.
BT Fon allows users to connect to wireless services the world over by sharing home connections.
Wireless broadband users share the bandwidth of their home connection with other BT Fon users in the area and in return they can get access to other people's wireless connections while they are abroad.
The wireless community held off competition from Broadcom, Nokia and Samsung Electronics to scoop the award.
Other winners included Moovera, which took the Best WiFi product or service award for its M Series Mobile Broadband Gateway, which allows people to connect to wireless services on various modes of public transport.
Bus operator Trent Barton is one of the latest companies to choose Moovera's products, which will be used to deliver wireless to travellers using commuter coaches between Nottingham and Derby.
