Android gets Sky+ app

Satellite TV provider Sky has launched a new application that allows users to set recordings on their set top boxes from their Android mobile phones.

Whether you have a Sky+ or Sky+ HD set top box, the Sky+ for Android app will allow you to browse the planner system while out of the house as well as pick out programs to record.

David Gibbs of Sky Mobile said: "The success of the Sky+ app indicates that there is a real demand for innovative products such as Remote Record."

Mr Gibbs added that Sky was committed to giving users a greater amount of control over their services and that smartphones allow these kinds of functions to flourish.

A million people have already downloaded Sky's existing Android app.
