The Google Nexus S will soon be available on contracts from Vodafone, the network has confirmed.
It announced in a statement “the Nexus S will soon be available in Vodafone stores around the world.”
Up until now the Nexus S was only available unlocked exclusively at high street retailer Carphone Warehouse. With Vodafone on board, customers can now look forward to picking it up on a variety of contract options with cost of the handset likely to be partially or fully subsidised.
Patrick Chomet, Group Director of Terminals at Vodafone, said: “It’s great news that our customers will very soon be able to get Google’s Nexus S direct through our stores.
“At Vodafone we work closely with our partners across the industry to offer our customers a leading smartphone range that includes the latest innovations in product and user experience.”
Nexus S is only the second ever smartphone to bear the Google name, after the Nexus One. It’s also the first and currently the only handset on the market to run the latest iteration of Android, Gingerbread.
Key hardware specs include a four-inch Super AMOLED panel, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a five-megapixel snapper with LED flash and HD video recording, plus talk-of-the-town Near Field Communication technology, which will eventually enable the Nexus S to be used for contactless payments much like the Oyster card.
