The Android version of the hit iPhone game Temple Run has been postponed, leaving geekier smartfans, ahem, jonesing for their fix of runny-jumpy archeology action.
The port of Imangi Studios’ title had been widely expected to tip up in the Android Market and sundry third-party stores today, after a slew of reports named the 9th as its due date.
However, according to the publishers, work on the game is still ongoing and at no stage was it ever likely to drop today. The good news, though, is that it ought to be with us the end of the month.
An update on iMangi’s Facebook page stated: “Quick update on Temple Run for Android, because we are getting lots of questions.
“We are working as hard as we can, but we still don't have an exact release date yet. It's our first release on Android and we want to make sure we get everything right.”
The publisher added: “In the meantime, anything on Android claiming to be Temple Run is a scam. When the real Temple Run is out, you guys will be the first to know!”
Taking its inspiration from Indiana Jones and the 1930s Saturday morning adventure serials that in turn inspired Spielberg and Lucas’s homage, Temple Run has proved something of a surprise sleeper hit and was at one stage the number-one free game on iTunes.
