Spoiler alert! George RR Martin has let slip some details concerning the next series of 'Game of Thrones'. And in news that's set to break the internet, it has emerged that four characters will die in series five who are still alive at that point in the books.
"People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," he told the Writers Guild West Awards.
"Everybody better be on their toes. [Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] are even bloodier than I am."
One star has already said the next series will be "traumatic". Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, said some moments would be "more shocking than the Red Wedding" (in which several main characters – and a heavily pregnant woman – were slaughtered).
That does indeed sound traumatic.
'Game of Thrones' series five starts on April 13th on Sky Atlantic in the UK, one day after it airs on HBO in the US.
Straight after each show, Sue Perkins will host a live 'Thronecast', including interviews with cast, crew, celebrity fans and guest experts.
The first episode will be an hour long, with each subsequent instalment a half hour in duration.
