plex roku

Media management app Plex has been updated on the Roku platform, offering a new design, quicker speeds and a more intuitive user interface.

Plex is based on the Xbox Media Centre, and lets you manage all your media from your PC and NAS drive on other devices like your smart TV. It also adds more info on movies and TV shows from third-party sites.

Whereas the previous app looked like one for a traditional set-top box, the new one looks more like one for Chromecast.

It's equipped for playing videos and music, and has a whole section dedicated to trailers for recent cinema releases like 'Boyhood'. You can also control it using the Plex Companion.

While photos, playlists and channels aren't yet supported, Plex says these are on the way.

The new app is only available for subscription customers at the moment (those with a Plex Pass). It hasn't said when it will be available to non-paying Plex customers.
