madam secretary

Political drama 'Madam Secretary' will get its UK premiere on Sky Living on April 23rd at 9pm. The show stars Tea Leoni and airs on CBS in the US.

Leoni plays Elizabeth McCord, the newly appointed Secretary of State who has to negotiate international diplomacy, deal with office politics and complex global issues.

She's shrewd, determined, and only returned to the office at the personal request of the President, following the suspicious death of her predecessor.

McCord is a college professor and brilliant former CIA analyst with a deep knowledge of the Middle East and a flair for languages.

She's joined by her Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwirth), speechwriter Matt Mahoney (Geoffrey Arend), press coordinator Daisy Grant (Patina Miller) and her charming assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen).

At home, she has a supportive husband Henry (Tim Daly), and two bright children (Katherine Herzer and Evan Roe).

Sounds like she has everything. Which suggests there's trouble brewing.

The series is created and written by Barbara Hall ('Homeland', 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent').
