netflix gift card

You no longer need a subscription to watch Netflix, with the news that the streaming giant has launched pay-as-you-go gift cards that let you top up whenever you like.

The cards are available in £15, £25 or £50 denominations. Buy one, and the corresponding amount will be added to your account ready to be spent however you like.

You can use them to buy a standard Netflix package or a fancier option like the 4K/Ultra Hi-Def tier, which gives you some TV shows and films in a higher resolution (though will need a capable telly to enjoy the benefits).

The service works out how much your chosen package would cost per day and subtracts that from what's left on your account. Hence with a £15 gift card, you would get two and a half months (or about 10 weeks) of the £5.99-a-month standard definition package.

It's a neat way to try Netflix without signing your life away – of course, the free trial is still available – and a nice option if you only watch occasionally.

They're on sale now from Argos, Currys/PC World, WH Smith, Game, Morrisons and Asda.
