netflix tv app

Netflix has given its TV apps their first major update in almost two years.

The biggest change is that Netflix now starts or resumes video as soon as you select a title. So choose 'Orange is the New Black', for example, and it'll cycle through clips while keeping the menu info on screen.

Netflix previously hinted it wanted to bring video 'forward' in the TV experience, and this one way to do it.

The TV streaming service claims this delivers a more cinematic experience.

"We're letting the content speak for itself by providing a more immersive and cinematic experience that best represents the capabilities and expectations of today's TVs," Netflix said in a blog post.

The refreshed app is rolling out now to eligible devices. There's no word on what they are, but it's safe to assume Netflix Recommended TVs are included. It should reach all eligible devices in the next few days.
