Superheroes, kite flying and a heavy-handed dose of political polemic. As the nights start to draw in, that's how the next few weeks are shaping up on Netflix.
Thor: The Dark World
The second 'Thor' film features an all-star cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Christopher Eccleston.
Dr Jane Foster (Portman) is cursed with a powerful object, and it's up to Thor (Hemsworth) to stop Malekith (Eccleston) and his cronies getting their hands on it. Available from Friday.
The Kite Runner
Based on the bestselling book of the same name, 'The Kite Runner' is set in Kabul, and tells the story of young friends Amir and Hassan.
As an adult living in California, Amir is haunted by a childhood incident in which he betrayed Hassan's trust. Upon discovering that the Taliban has murdered Hassan and his wife, Amir returns to Kabul to find out what happened to the couple's son. Available from tomorrow.
The Emperor's New Clothes
Russell Brand and Michael Winterbottom team up to look at inequality and the current state of the nation.
You can accuse it of being overly simplistic, and failing to deal with the root causes of the current malaise. But surely anything that gets young people interested in politics has got to be a good thing. Available from Friday.
