star wars: the force awakens

The new Star Wars film is coming to Netflix. But don't go buying a subscription just yet, as it'll only hit the streaming service in Canada.

Netflix's Canadian arm has a deal with Disney that means the new flick will land sometime in the summer, roughly eight to nine months after its cinema release.

Here in the UK, Sky has first dibs on the new film after it renewed its deal with Disney. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' should land on Sky Movies around August next year, nine months after its cinema release.

In the US, Starz has an exclusive deal granting it the rights to all Disney films released before the end of 2015. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' hits cinemas on December 18th in the UK, and on the 17th in the US.

The deal between Sky and Disney also gives Sky the rights to films like 'Inside Out' and 'The Good Dinosaur', as well as bringing more Disney Channels series to Sky customers. Disney also recently announced a UK-only streaming service called DisneyLife, which will land next month.
