Doctor Who, a kids' version of Gogglebox, and a two-hour version of Alan Carr's chat show? It must be Christmas Day.
Doctor Who 5:15pm, BBC One The festive special of 'Doctor Who' is as much a part of Christmas as turkey and mince pies. 'The Husbands of River Song' promises to have everything you could want from an episode of Who: romance, robots with detachable heads, and plenty of gore. It sees the Doctor landing on the snowy colony of Mendorax Dellora in a bid to avoid Christmas, where he bumps into his ex, River Song. But she's not smitten by him. On the contrary, she's more concerned with getting a priceless diamond from her latest husband (played by Greg Davies). Look out for Matt Lucas guest starring.
Gogglesprogs 8pm, Channel 4 If you like what the adults come out with on 'Gogglebox', wait until you see what the kids have to say. This is basically Gogglebox with children, but there's nothing wrong with that. It'll be interesting to see what young people think of hit shows like 'The Great British Bake Off' and 'Britain's Got Talent'. Channel 4 certainly thinks so anyway – it's already commissioned a full series.
Alan Carr: Chatty Man 9pm, Channel 4 Carr might be a Happy Shopper Graham Norton, but he still pulls in some big-name guests (or in the case of Grace Jones a few weeks ago, he just plain pulls them). This two-hour festive special features Samuel L. Jackson, comedian John Bishop, Catherine Tate (in nan guise), 'The Voice' presenters Emma Willis and Marvin Humes, the inexorable Keith Lemon, Lorraine Kelly, and Steph and Dom from 'Gogglebox'. Little Mix provide the music. Expect Carr to be hammered by the end of it.
