Woody Allen has revealed that Miley Cyrus will co-star in his first ever TV series.
The series doesn't yet have a title, but will consist of six half-hour episodes, and will air on Amazon Prime Video. It will be set in the 1960s.
Cyrus – daughter of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus and all-round hell-raiser – will star alongside Allen and Elaine May. There's no word on what the subject of the series will be, or who the characters are.
Allen has written the series and will direct it too. Filming will begin in March.
Allen last worked with May in 'Small Time Crooks', a film released in the year 2000 centring on an unsuccessful crook and his wife who unexpectedly strike it rich.
It also starred Tracy Ullman and Hugh Grant.
Allen has had some misgivings about the project, and he wasn't shy about airing them. When it was first announced, he said, "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price [from Amazon Studios] will regret this."
Let's hope not.
