virgin media tv v6

Virgin Media has officially unveiled its next-gen set-top box. Called the Virgin TV V6, it's powered by TiVo, which is the same software running on its previous box. It's also said to be 4K, which would put it on a par with its rivals the Sky Q Silver box and BT Ultra HD YouView box.

However, details are a bit thin on the ground. Virgin Media has only revealed the image on Twitter, along with a mention that it's powered by TiVo. So we'll have to wait for the official launch for more information. There's no date set yet, but hopefully it'll be soon.

From the picture, the box looks pretty boxy, and quite tall. It's certainly nowhere near as sleek as Sky Q Silver. The remote also looks pretty chunky, with none of the motion pad controls of Sky Q. Though that'll be welcome news to those who find the Sky remote difficult to use.

Of course there's a lot more to a set-top box than what it looks like. The real question is what's it like to use? We'll bring you our first impressions as soon as we've had a play.
