Travel shows in New York and Japan, plus the return of 'Gogglebox'.

Travel Man: 48 Hours in New York' 8:30pm, Channel 4

Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Katherine Ryan as he spends 24 hours in the Big Apple.

During their stay the pair try a cronut, hit the museums and go rollerblading in Central Park.

You won't learn anything about New York that you couldn't from a million other travel shows, but Ayoade's deadpanning, and the ever-reliable Ryan, make it worth a watch.

'Joanna Lumley's Japan' 9pm, ITV

In the last of her three-part tour around Japan, Lumley traces a Buddhist pilgrimage route on the island of Shikoku before hopping abroad a bullet train to the island of Kyushu to stay at a robot hotel.

She then visits Sakurajima, one of the country's most active volcanoes, and then Okinawa, the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World War.

'Gogglebox' 9pm, Channel 4

If travel programmes seem like too much hard work, why not watch people watch telly instead? Likely topics of conversation in the first episode of this new series include 'The Great British Bake Off', 'Poldark', 'Cold Feet' and 'The X Factor', as well as current affairs.

The Brexit special shone a light on what real people made of the campaigns on both sides, so let's hope our politicians watch Sandra et al come Friday night.
