TalkTalk TV is improving its mobile TV service. The firm has partnered with a major digital services company to refresh its offering, including bundling new services.
So what can we expect? And when will the improvements roll out? Read on and all will be revealed.
1 Pre-order films
The first new feature TalkTalk has mentioned is the ability to pre-order films before they're available to buy or rent. That means as soon as you know when the film will become available, you can get your order in early and start planning your night in. Better get the takeaway orders in as well.
2 Season Pass
But it's not just film viewing that will be improved. TalkTalk will also let viewers use the new 'Season Pass' feature to access multiple boxsets in a single purchase.
In other words, if you want to binge your way through all seven series of 'The West Wing', you can buy the whole lot in one go, with no need to purchase each season separately.
Who knows, it might even work out cheaper than buying each individually. That's the weekend sorted then.
3 More streamlined
The update will make for a "more streamlined platform", according to TalkTalk. Which should mean make menus easier to navigate, with quicker loading times and hopefully less buffering.
It should also mean the platform is pared back, with fewer extraneous extras. In other words, you'll be able to find what you want and start watching it much quicker than you can now.
4 It won't affect the existing service
While the update is described as "large-scale", it won't mean rebuilding the platform from scratch. That's because TalkTalk is using CSG International's Ascendon platform, which lets it add digital services without replacing the entire TalkTalk TV system.
Hopefully that should mean no downtime for the system, and no bugs when it launches. Fingers crossed.
5 It's coming this summer
The rollout begins this summer. TalkTalk will give us more details of all the new features nearer the time.
"This is an exciting new partnership for TalkTalk TV and one that will enable us to accelerate our mobile viewing offering," Aleks Habdank, managing director of TalkTalk TV, said in a statement. "The integration of the Ascendon platform complements a number of recent innovations aimed at delivering a faster, more intuitive and seamless TV experience.
"We led the market by being the first provider to roll out the Next Generation YouView upgrade, which the majority of our customers are already enjoying, and earlier this month, TalkTalk was named TV Provider of the Year in a public vote.
"We're looking forward to customers being able to enjoy even more of the entertainment they love, whenever and wherever they want, both in and out of the home."
