Netflix is making four new Adam Sandler films, the streaming service has announced.
Sandler's previous deal with Netflix signed him up to four films. The first two – 'The Ridiculous 6' and 'The Do-Over' – were mauled by the critics, so you might think it odd that Netflix would want more. But apparently Sandler's films are very popular with the streaming service's viewers.
According to Netflix, both 'The Ridiculous 6' and 'The Do-Over' are the most-watched original films on the service. Though there's no way of knowing how many people have sat through them, as Netflix doesn't disclose viewing figures.
Sandler's next film, 'Sandy Wexler', will air on Netflix on 14th April.
"Love working with Netflix and collaborating with them," Sandler said in a statement. "I love how passionate they are about making movies and getting them out there for the whole world to see. They've made me feel like family and I can't thank them enough for their support."
Netflix is increasingly trying to tempt viewers away from the cinema. Its upcoming original films include 'War Machine' starring Brad Pitt, and 'The Irishman', which is the next project from screen legends Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.
