f1 sky sports formula one

Sky Sports has announced it will show every practice session, qualifying session and race of the new F1 season in 4K.

We already knew it would show every race in 4K, but this is the first we've heard about the qualifying and practice sessions also being shown in the resolution.

4K packs four times as many pixels as high definition, making for a much sharper image. Formula One will become only the second sport to be shown in 4K on Sky Q (after football).

To enjoy the coverage in 4K, you'll need the Sky Q 2TB box (known as Sky Q Silver when it launched), as well as a subscription to Sky Sports and a 4K-compatible telly.

The 2017 Formula One season starts next weekend in Australia. Sky will show all its coverage on Sky Sports F1, its dedicated channel.

Viewers can enjoy different camera angles, replays and highlights using the split-screen viewing feature.

Sky will show every race of the season live, but only 10 of those exclusively – it will share live rights to the other 10 with Channel 4, so non-Sky subscribers can also watch live. Albeit without 4K and all of the split-screen bells and whistles.

Here's the full schedule of races for this season:
