We know Apple is dabbling in making its own original content – it's already announced 'Carpool Karaoke' and a reality show called 'Planet of the Apps'. But now comes word it might buy its own Hollywood studio.
The claims come from a report in the New York Post. It says Apple has held meetings with Paramount and Sony's TV and film studios in recent weeks, and has talked to employees about the possibility of working for Apple.
It claims that rather than just buying some shows and labelling them as original content, the firm is eyeing up a "transformative acquisition" i.e. it wants to buy a whole studio for itself.
Apple executives Eddy Cue, Robert Kondrk and Jimmy Iovine are all reportedly keen to be the one who seals the deal. So much so that negotiations have been a bit haphazard, if you believe the report.
Apple has been rumoured to have a TV streaming service in the works for some time now, but it's stalled because of negotiations with TV networks. Apple is undoubtedly keen to get into the original content area, especially after seeing the success of Amazon Prime Video and Netflix (both of which won Oscars at this year's Academy Awards).
