Netflix will release a series based on the 'Final Fantasy 14' videogame later this month. Called 'Final Fantasy 14: Daddy of Light', it tells the story of a son who introduces his elderly father to the bestselling videogame. The game proves a hit, and the two bond over their mutual love of it.

It won't be the first time the videogame series has found its way onto TV in some incarnation. But its mix of live action and gameplay footage will help it stand out from its predecessors.

It should also reach a much wider audience, seeing as Netflix has close to 100 million viewers around the world.

The show was inspired by a Japanese blog about a player introducing the game to his elderly father.

The series will start on Netflix on 20th April. It will also air on Japanese TV channels MBS and TBS on 16th April.

Netflix is keeping busy. Its other projects in the works include a live adaptation of Japanese classic 'Death Note' and the Robert Redford film 'The Discovery'.
