sense8 series 2 trailer

Netflix has cancelled its second show in two weeks. 'Sense8' was made by the Wachowkis, the people behind 'The Matrix'.

The series focussed on a group of disparate strangers who could share each other's skills. It ran for two seasons.

Last week, Netflix also cancelled 'The Get Down', a musical series produced by Baz Luhrmann ('The Great Gatsby').

According to Deadline, 'Sense8''s lengthy development process meant its stars' options for a third series had lapsed by the time the second series aired. Netflix did initiate negotiations for new contracts, but cancelled the show anyway.

The show also cost a lot to film, as it was set in locations all around the world.

Netflix is investing heavily in original content lately, but these two cancellations prove that it's willing to cut a show loose if it isn't performing how it thinks it should. The fact they both have big names attached makes the point even more clear.
