Sky's 'Patrick Melrose' (previously known as just 'Melrose') is getting some big-name actors joining its cast.
Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh ('The Hateful Eight'), Huge Weaving (Agent Smith from 'The Matrix') and Anna Madeley ('The Crown') will all appear in the Sky Atlantic/Showtime co-production. Benedict Cumberbatch will play the titular role.
Leigh and Weaving will play Melrose's parents, and Madeley his wife.
All five episodes will be written by BAFTA Award-nominee David Nicholls, and directed by Edward Berger ('Deutschland 83').
The series is based on the semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St Aubyn. It promises to hilariously skewer the upper class, as it follows Patrick Melrose's harrowing journey from a traumatic childhood to adult substance abuse and ultimately recovery.
It will take place in the south of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and Britain around the turn of the century.
Shooting starts in August.
