Apple is again rumoured to launch a new Apple TV streaming box next month. The new model will feature both 4K and HDR, according to sources.
4K is a resolution with four times as many pixels as high definition. That means images are much sharper.
HDR stands for high dynamic range. It's a technology originally found in cameras, that makes for a bigger difference between the light and dark parts of a picture, making it more lifelike and giving it more depth.
Though remember, you will need a 4K TV that's HDR compatible in order to take advantage of these technologies.
According to Bloomberg, the new Apple TV will also have a faster processor. The current model came out two years ago, which is an age in terms of technology. So a faster processor is a dead cert.
This isn't the first rumour we've heard about a forthcoming Apple TV with 4K and HDR. But the steady drumbeat of stories suggests Apple's streaming box of tricks will soon get a much needed refresh.
Apple is rumoured to be launching the next iPhone on 12th September. Chances are it will unveil the new Apple TV at the same event.
