Amazon has stopped selling its current model of Fire TV, prompting rumours it's about to announce a new one.
Earlier in the week, we got a glimpse at what purports to be the new model. The version in the leaked image shows a blue light around the top, which suggests it could have Amazon's personal assistant Alexa on board for voice control.
The current Fire TV can be controlled by Alexa, but only through the remote control.
The other new model pictured looked like a redesigned Fire TV Stick.
At time of writing, Amazon's UK site shows the Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD as "currently unavailable". "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock," the note adds.
However, the Fire TV Stick is listed as still being in stock. So either it will stay on sale after Amazon launched the new model, or there's just been a rush on the current 4K Fire TV.
The Christmas season and Black Friday are just around the corner, so Amazon's annual Fire TV refresh is due. Apple just announced the Apple TV 4K, which adds 4K and HDR, so Amazon will undoubtedly be keen to keep up with its latest device.
