game of thrones dragons vs wights

We knew that the final series of fantasy epic 'Game of Thrones' will air next year, but now we have a more exact date. It will hit our screens in April 2019, according to star Maisie Williams.

Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the show, said in an interview: "We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That's a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There's a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all."

Filming started last October, so it seems like the producers are pulling out all the stops.

While series eight will only comprise six episodes, some will be feature-length. The last episode in particular is said to be a suitably epic finale.

Series seven was similarly truncated, only consisting of seven episodes.

This isn't the end for 'Game of Thrones' though, not by a long way. HBO has planned numerous spinoffs set within the same universe. So winter will be coming for a long time yet.
