The next Premier League TV deal could include a winter break. This would be in keeping with the top football leagues in Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
The next TV deal will take effect in 2019. Talks have been ongoing for months.
If agreed, the break would take place in January. Hence it wouldn't affect the traditional festive football schedule.
The Premier League should announce details of the next TV deal next week. It's hoping to charge more than the £5.14 billion under the last deal. That included 168 live matches a season, split between Sky and BT in the UK.
This auction is expected to include competition from US tech giants like Amazon, and possibly social networks Facebook and Twitter, which are increasingly moving into the TV space.
The next TV deal will cover the period from 2019-2022.
