Netflix has announced another original series. 'The Spy' is a true-life story about Eli Cohen, an Isreali who worked as a spy in Damascus in the 1960s. After his cover was blown, he was publicly hanged in 1965.
Sacha Baron Cohen will play the lead role. The six-part series is written by Gideon Raff, who created the Israeli series on which 'Homeland' was based.
Cohen seems an odd choice for the role. He's best known for playing Borat, Ali G, Bruno and a host of other crude comedic stereotypes. Though he has taken on straight roles in 'Les MIserables' and 'Alice Through the Looking Glass'.
There's no word on when 'The Spy' will air, but presumably it will be part of Netflix's run of 700-odd original shows and films that will debut this year alone.
