This is the first teaser trailer for the third series of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things. Though you wouldn’t know it, unless you’re up on the show.
It appears to be an advert for a mall in Hawkins, Indiana. But those in the know will realise that the fictional town is the setting for Stranger Things.
We also get a glimpse of Steve (Joe Keery), along with a new character called Robin (Maya Hawke). The teaser gives us some other clues, too. The mall is described as “one of the finest shopping facilities in America… and beyond,” which hints at the otherworldly nature of the paranormal show. And it nods of Dawn of the Dead, George Romero’s zombie film that satirised mall culture so effectively.
The mall is said to open next summer (1985), which is when series three is set. That could also be the release date of series three, which would be a lot later than fans expected – the previous series aired on Halloween, and many were hoping for another autumn release this year. News that they could have another year to wait is sure to irritate them.
