cowboy bebop

Netflix has commissioned a live-action series of the hit Japanese anime Cowboy Bebop.

It’s a jazz-inspired story of a ragtag bunch of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts, aiming to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. The bounty hunters are: Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed.

The 10-episode series is a co-production from Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, which is a partnership between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios. Christopher Lost (the Thor franchise) will write the first episode, and Shinichiro Watanabe – who directed the original anime – will act as consultant.

Netflix is investing heavily in original content in a bid to differentiate itself from rival streaming services. And with over 120 million customers worldwide, it seems to be working.
