Disney Plus Day 2021: everything you need to know

To mark its second anniversary, Disney Plus held a big event to celebrate its staggeringly successful streaming service. And while it was at it, Disney also made some exciting announcements about new content that will be added to the platform over the coming weeks and months.

What is Disney Plus Day?

Disney Plus Day is an event marking the two-year anniversary of the launch of Disney’s streaming service. It’s filled with exciting announcements, new premiers and sneak peeks of upcoming content.

What will premiere on Disney Plus Day?

Disney announced loads of exciting new content that will be available on its streaming service. From today, Disney Plus subscribers will now have access to Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, as well as Dopestick, a thrilling new original drama series, starring Michael Keaton. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish fans will be able to watch The Making of Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, a documentary about her recent cinematic concert experience.

And Enchanted is now finally available on Disney Plus. The hugely popular part-live-action-part-animated romantic comedy starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and Susan Sarandon has been in-demand from Disney Plus subscribers since the platform launched. And now that the sequel is well underway, it’s the perfect time to add it.

But perhaps the most exciting addition today is the all-new original series of shorts, Olaf Presents. Following the smash-hit Frozen II, in which Olaf hilariously summarises the plot of the first movie for the benefit of some new characters, everyone’s favourite snowman is back to retell the plots from other Disney classics, including The Lion King, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid.

But of course, Disney Plus is the gift that keeps on giving. And it’s announced enough new content to keep us entertained all the way through Christmas and beyond. Throughout November and December, Disney Plus will launch new content every week, starting with Marvel’s latest TV series, Hawkeye, which is available on 24 November. Following this, there will be The Last Duel, The Big Leap and The Wonder Years. And on Christmas Eve, Disney’s 60th animated classic, Encanto, will be added to the platform.

Best of all though, Disney Plus has announced a sweet incentive to encourage fans to sign up. Both new and eligible returning customers can get a whole month of Disney Plus for just £1.99. After that, the price will revert to the standard price of £7.99 a month.

However, if you sign up for an eligible O2 mobile phone contract, you can get £2 off your monthly subscription to Disney Plus, meaning it’ll set you back just £5.99 a month instead.
