The launch of the first Eurosport app, which allows iPhone owners to watch video streams of live games as they are broadcast, will be greeted with excitement by sports fans.
The Eurosport Player will allow users to watch content from two of the British Eurosport channels, with streaming provided either by the iPhone's Wi-Fi or 3G connection.
The app will be free to download, but since the channels themselves are available as part of subscription TV packages to other customers, a fee of £2.39 a month will be required for viewing on your mobile phone. Users can purchase a whole year's worth of viewing time for a one-off payment of £23.99.
If you download the Eurosport Player and subscribe to its content, you will be able to watch everything from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics to the tennis matches at the French Open. Many more live sporting events will become available throughout the year and into the future.
Eurosport chairman Laurent-Eric Le Lay told New Media Age: "Sport is the perfect genre to enjoy through this exciting functionality, enabling fans to watch their favourite sporting events wherever they are, ensuring they never miss a second of the action."
