Teletext Mobile is hoping that it will be able to get its hands on some serious app developing talent with its new App Factor competition, which has launched this week.

The App Factor is designed to find the best app developers for both the Apple iPhone and the newly launched iPad and it will be running each and every month, with the winner receiving a publishing deal courtesy of its operator.

Anyone can enter the competition and given the popularity of the iPhone as a development platform it is sure to receive no shortage of attention.

Billions of apps are downloaded every year and these figures are soaring as smartphone popularity becomes ubiquitous. Experts predict that in three years nearly seven billion apps will be downloaded by consumers around the world.

Teletext Mobile promises winners will its backing and an audience of over 40 million people for their software.

A preliminary trial of the competition took place in April and the winner was the MirrorMe app, which can predict how a person will look years in the future using facial recognition technology.
