Sat nav firm TomTom is updating its iPhone app to take advantage of the fourth edition Apple smartphone's multi-tasking capabilities.
TomTom for iPhone version 1.4 will allow users to navigate with full turn-by-turn instructions at the same time as performing other tasks with other apps on the iPhone 4.
TomTom is going to submit its new app to Apple on the 21st of June and with the acceptance period usually taking a week, it could be on the App Store in time for the iPhone 4's arrival.
Smartphone owners who already have the TomTom app, or who want to buy it now to take advantage of its current cut price of £49.99, will be able to download updated edition free of charge when it is launched.
The subscription-based HD Traffic service offered by TomTom is currently undergoing price restructuring that will make it cheaper to receive live updates about congestion in consumers' area, so it might be a good time to pick it up along with the app.
