Readers of T3 Magazine have voted Apple's new iPhone 4 onto a recently announced shortlist for its Gadget of the Year award.
The iPhone 4 was launched after the magazine had compiled the list, since when Apple has been hit with a barrage of complaints about antenna and reception issues, which could hinder the handset's chances of sealing the trophy.
Other devices in the running are the HTC Desire, Samsung's C9000 3D ready television range, the 1TB version of the Sky+ HD set top box and Apple's own iPad.
The list of nominees was voted for by more than a quarter of a million people, with voting due to reopen soon to allow a final champion to be crowned on October 11th.
HTC is facing off against Apple in a total of five different categories at the awards, directly pitting Apple against the best-known adoptee of Google's Android platform.
T3 Editor Luke Peter said: "Apple has already wowed us all this year with the iPad, but there are a host of other equally impressive new innovations and companies in this year's awards shortlist."
