Pressure on Apple is intensifying after scientific tests of the latest smartphones found that the iPhone 4 the worst affected when held using the so-called 'death grip'.
PA Consulting Group conducted experiments on a variety of smartphones and although the iPhone 4 was deemed to be the most problematic in this particular area, it was also discovered that the HTC HD2 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 show similar if less catastrophic results.
Simon Tonks of PA Consulting stated: "Our tests indicate that the 'death grip' issue is real and is worse for the Apple iPhone 4 than for other smartphones.
"The iPhone 4's radio performance was also found to be generally at the lower end. This means it will tend to drop calls earlier than other phones and may suffer more in areas of weak signa."
The iPhone 4's antenna issues are ongoing, prompting Apple to recently announce that is giving away free bumper guards which alleviate the death grip problem.
