iPhone 4 has been voted the “most wanted” gift for this Christmas for kids aged between five and 16 in a Duracell survey.
In stark contrast to traditional gift items such as Transformers toys and games consoles traditionally most popular with kids, it’s Apple’s premier blower that managed to snatch pole position with 14 per cent of 2,138 children and parents questioned in the survey putting it at the top of their Christmas wishlist.
The iPod touch and iPad were second and third, with 13 per cent and 12 per cent respectively, giving Santa Jobs more reasons to be laugh all the way to the bank as Apple reported $20 billion in revenue for the fourth fiscal-quarter, its best quarterly performance yet.
Over 14 million iPhone 4’s have been sold since its summer launch despite constant negative publicity surrounding antenna problems that caused dropped calls when the device is held in a certain way. Although Google’s Android has taken advantage of this to outpace the iPhone in shipments in several territories, it seems that for now, it has yet to win the hearts and minds of the young consumers.
Here is the complete wishlist from the survey:
- iPhone 4 (14%)
- iPod touch (13%)
- iPad (12%)
- Kinect for Xbox (6%)
- Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters / Kung Zhu Hamsters (5%)
- Flip Video Camera (4%)
7. Toy Story 3 Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear (4%)
- PlayStation Move (4%)
- Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 Video Game (3%)
- Barbie Video Girl (3%)
