The iPhone Tesco app has been updated to allow users to add items to their online shopping lists simply by scanning a barcode.
Aimed at “busy parents and time-poor professionals”, the app is intended to allow this stressed demographic to “add specific items to their online shopping basket at anytime, and avoid running the risk of forgetting to add them to the ‘traditional’ shopping list”.
The existing functionality of the application is unchanged, so you’ll still be able to add and remove products from orders, book delivery slots and get nutritional gen and the like.
Laura Wade-Gery, Chief Executive Office of Tesco.com, said: “We’re always looking for ways to make life easier for customers and for busy mums in particular.
“The barcode scanner will make online ordering much quicker for those that have an iPhone.“
Tesco’s free to download app is available now from the iPhone App Store. Opponents of the ever-encroaching Tescopoly that is UK grocery retail will just have to wait until their local cornershop gets their rear in gear and brings out a shopping tool of their own.
