Apple has officially announced the date it will finally unveil its next iPhone: October 4th.
The phone giant has begun sending out invitations asking the tech press to be in attendance at its California campus on October 4th at 10am Pacific Daylight Time.
The invite, which shows four iOS icons of the Calendar, Clock, Maps and Phone applications, simply states, “Let’s talk iPhone” at the bottom, pretty much confirming this is the date it will reveal the long awaited successor to the iPhone 4.
There’s no clarification whether the handset will be the iPhone 5 or the rumoured iPhone 4S, but in any case, we need only count days before we find out for sure, at which point, uSwitch.com expect to be able to offer iPhone 5 deals online in the UK.
Apple is not usually known to specify any device in its press invites, so the fact that it’s even mentioned iPhone is a huge surprise. And a pleasant one at that.
Last week, AllThingsD reported that Cupertino-based gadget-maker was likely to announce a media gathering on October 4th. The rumour mill has been in full throttle in anticipation of a mid-October release, which now seems almost certain.
Whatever happens, we’ll be live blogging the entire event at uSwitch Tech, so be sure to check back and also follow us on Twitter for the latest updates.
