iPhone 4 price cut on Three

Three has cut the price of the iPhone 4, as it clears the decks ahead of the official release of Apple’s fifth-generation smartphone tomorrow.

As of today, Three has waived the £69 upfront fee has on the 16GB iteration of the iPhone 4 when customers choose the One Plan tariff at £35 per month over a two-year contract term.

The one-time charge of £89 that applied on the top-of-the-range 32GB version of the handset on the same tariff has also been dropped.

Three’s gambit comes as the tech world prepares for the global launch of the iPhone 4S and the now-familiar sight of febrile queues of fanboys queuing up outside Apple stores for the honour of being among the first to get their mitts on a new product from the House of Cupertino.

The fifth generation Apple phone retains the same design as its predecessor. However, under the hood it’s a different story, thanks largely to a powerful dual core A5 processor that makes for a much smoother and faster smartphone experience.

Browsing speeds have also been boosted. HSPA+ support means iPhone 4S users can expect to surf the web’s highways and bi-ways at up to 14.4Mb – that’s twice the speed that its predecessor delivers.
