T-Mobile has cut the asking price of the iPhone 4 8GB edition, as the looming appearance of a new iPhone iteration means its days as the entry-level Apple smartphone are numbered.
From today, the carrier has waived the £159.99 upfront fee for the smartphone when customers sign up for it on a two-year contract at £15.50 per month.
That gets you allowances of 100 call minutes, 500 texts and (here’s the beef) 250MB of mobile data per month. Or for same monthly outlay, you could opt to pare down your minutes and texts allowance to 100 and 250 per month respectively and get 1GB of data.
The price cut for the handset comes as the tech world counts down to the arrival of a new iPhone (or indeed 'iPhones') in September.
Assuming the low-cost model of tech-site rumour is among them, this will surely replace the 8GB iPhone 4 as the entry-level Apple smartphone.
If a more affordable iPhone doesn’t manifest itself, however, you can expect the iPhone 4S 16GB to supplant the iPhone 4 8GB as the go-to iPhone for beginners.
